The Human Spirit
Adam and Eve banished from Eden,
Shares the road with the four dreaded horsemen.
Their frightful blows stuns like Medusa's gaze,
They be cast in stone beneath Pompeii.
Humanity bruised, bloodied and broken,
Lie waiting on death throes along the dusty road.
When none but the dying ember remains;
A flicker, a prayer, an outstretched hand;
Rises man from the ashes like the Phoenix.
From the bowels of Hell redeemed;
From the jaws of death resurrected;
The human spirit thus prevails.
