The Pinoy Office Christmas Parties

Ever year a committee is formed to plan the office Christmas party. The members are expected to plan the party to be wholesome and fun, except for the parlor games which will surely not pass MTRCB "R" rating.

There's no overtime pay during Christmas parties. Only overtime karaoke.

The President of the company plays Santa Claus and gives out gifts during the Christmas party.The rest of the year he plays Scrooge. The company's suggestion box will surely be full of suggestions for the former.

Each department prepare for their group presentation during Christmas party. They are highly competitive. They should do that more often in actual work.

During the Christmas season we only wish well for everybody, except for the Christmas raffle where we wish everybody will get the minor prizes.

Employees would say they are not lucky in Christmas party raffle, as long as their lucky in their love life.

The usual dress color themes for office Christmas parties are either green or red. It's a great match with lewd parlor games or with drunk employees.

Santa Claus will again be pissed off this December. He'll say that it's not  part of his job description to grant the wishes of children of employees to win the Christmas party major raffle prize.

During the close of the year blood pressures rise more from Christmas party buffet, lechon and alcohol than from business performance.

During the Christmas break employees visiting their co-workers at home will serve each other the same macaroni, spaghetti, fruit cocktail and ham brands.

Some companies give sacks of rice and bags of groceries to employees during the Christmas party. They'll all go home happy except their neighborhood stores.

Beers poured in glasses with ice and amateur singers will start to go flat as the Christmas party progresses into the night.

Employees practice their coordination for group presentations during work breaks, meetings and actual work

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away." That will never happen with the lechon biting on the apple served in office Christmas party.

In one lewd parlor game, productive employees manipulate eggplants, eggs and ropes.

The Santa Claus hat is the usual outfit during company Christmas parties. If everyone wears them they'll look like drunk elves partying in Santa's toy factory.

The employees will finally have a voice in the company this December - at the karaoke segment of the Christmas party.

New hires will be pressured to perform this December. They are expected to win the 1st prize for the group performance contest.

The busiest person in the company after the Christmas party is the company nurse.

The seventies was undoubtedly the "disco" era.  As a teenager, I listened and danced to the distinct sound of that era. When "Saturday Night Fever" hit the movie theaters in 1978,  I became an avid fan of the Bee Gees and other bands that played the disco sound.   Besides listening to disco sound, I also mimicked dance steps like the "swing" and "L.A. shuffle" from a local popular TV show the "Penthouse Seven." Grandfather@50

I will be turning 50 before the  end of this year, and what better way to usher in my golden boy status is becoming a bonafide grandfather.  I now have a grandson, his name is Samien. He was born on April 25, 2012. His parents say that the name means "to be heard".  I guess their choice was right because when Samien cries, he is really heard by everybody. I noticed remarkable things in Samien.  While just a new born, he showed to us that he has strong legs and arms.  He can push himself upwards in the crib and was tireless in raising his small arms every  now and then.  Also, he is not the quiet type because he always cries and laughs unlike other babies inside the nursery who are peacefully asleep.  At three months old, he speaks amusing although unintelligible syllables.  Also, at three months, he is rather long for babies his age and quite heavy for a three month old baby.  He weighed in at 5 kilogram during his visit to his pediatrician.
